Minneapolis, November 20, 2009 — NetSPI announced today that Seth Peter, NetSPI's Chief Technology Office, will give a presentation on security issues surrounding the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The talk is part of a web-based seminar on PCI 360: Multiple Perspectives that will also include a talk by Bob Russo, General Manager of the PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC).
The e-symposium is available to members of the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium,
or (ISC)2. It will be presented on November 24, 2009 by Brighttalk
(information at https://isc2.brighttalk.com/).
It will also include presentations by security vendors Tripwire and Core Security.
The agenda for the conference notes that Despite the PCI Council's best efforts, there seems to still be an
enormous amount of discussion in the security community about what is exactly required, how to meet those requirements,
and of the highest interest, what PCI auditors looking for. The e-seminar is designed to answer frequent questions
and offer an in-depth view of the PCI DSS.
In his talk, Bob Russo will discuss new modifications to the PCI Data Security Standard and highlight the regulation’s
continued evolution. As part of the program, participants will be able to pose questions directly to Russo, who oversees
the Council's training, testing and certification efforts.
Seth Peter's talk, on PCI Audit Mishaps: Specific Advice from a QSA, will discuss security deficiencies that NetSPI
often discovers during PCI audits, offer specific advice on avoiding those problems, and deal with some application
security fundamentals.
